Our inquisitive children have been very interested in bugs lately and have been poking about in our garden most days hunting and searching for insects to explore (Inquiry)
They’ve discovered (investigating) and added some exciting creepy crawly names to their vocabulary including witchetty grubs, millipedes, slater bugs, ants and worms. (Researching)
Our children have become fascinated to learn weird and wonderful facts about their creepy crawlies and transferred this new found knowledge into some amazing artwork. (Experimentation)
If you look around our room here at Kool Kidz child care you’ll see some creative bugs, creeping, crawling and hanging around made of pom poms, pipe cleaners, pegs and colourful bit and pieces, making each one an original work of art. (Problem solving)
This child led interest has been a timely opportunity for Educators to incorporate “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” book at story times leading to clever association and growing awareness that once they (the Caterpillar Room children) grow bigger, they will in fact become Kindergarten butterflies and dragonflies. (Hypothesising) Our children have been using reflective learning at its best to become the eager active learners that they all are.
