On Friday 14th November, Kool Kidz on Wellington was visited by someone very special, Blossom the miniature pony. Olivia’s mum Virginia, from the Honeybees room, brought Blossom in to visit everyone at our Rowville childcare centre.
All children had the opportunity to pat and brush Blossom individually. Each child approached Blossom from the side as she was eating her grass out of her bag.
The children were then shown how to hold a brush and brush Blossom to ensure that she was clean and had no dirt left on her.
Virginia talked to the children about Blossom. The children were then given the opportunity to ask questions about Blossom. Some of the questions asked were “What does she eat?” and “Where does she live? Virginia answered “Blossom eats either fresh or dried grass, and she lives in a barn on a farm”.
The children were sad when they had to say good bye to Blossom as she had to return home to have a rest, but thoroughly enjoyed her visit.
Blossom’s visit encouraged the children to develop a sense of belonging to groups and communities by broadening their understanding of the world in which they live.
