Yesterday the Kinder children engaged and participated in a science experiment as an extension to their dinosaur activity . They had learnt about Volcano eruption and decide to explore with using baking soda and vinegar to create their own volcano eruption.
The children discussed how a volcano and molten lava form and about how dinosaur finished on earth.
It was a great experience for learning science skills- hypothesis, investigation, experiment, problem solve, reasoning and learning the facts…🌋👨🔬👩🔬
The children have a new fond interest with exploring the bugs and insects. It gives them the opportunity to extend on their learning about the natural world and environment. They are fascinated with these creepy crawlies. They spent the morning playing by making the buzzing noises, counting the legs of insects and observing the body of bugs/insects through magnifying glasses. They interacted with each other about the colours of the bugs, having open end discussions relating to what they have seen in real before at a museum, zoo, garden or park – relating to real life experiences.
Yesterday within our Kinder Classroom Raji did an experiment called ” Staining Science” this experiment involved the children in discussions about our natural flora , fauna and colours . They prepared all the resources yesterday and waited until today to slowly see the results of their experiment.
The children placed multiple colours of food dye into separate cups , placing one flower in each. Overnight the colour dye constituents the cells and tissues in the flowers slowly changing its colour.
This experience encourages discussion’s , getting the children to talk about what they see, feel, smell and discover and also have the opportunity to observe and develop their observational skills.
Raji our New Kinder Teacher has been focusing on Literacy and Letter Recognition. A new Learning space has been added into their Kinder classroom reflecting this new area of focus. A sign in table for the children has been added, this enables the children to use their fine motor and cognitive skills as well as this enhances the connections between visually seeing to reading.
Within the program different experiences have also been provided to the children to reflect on that interest. The children used different colored paper to paste the letters of their name . Not only focusing on letter recognition but including color recognition also.
Today at Kool Kidz Tarneit West we had a “Beach Dress Up Day” , we knew the weather was going to be very warm today so why not make it a beach day!
In Kinder they enjoyed laying in the sand on their beach towels with their friends and the Jitterbugs,Snugglepots and Butterflies classrooms all enjoyed exploring with sand making beautiful sand painting’s and pasting. This experience gave the children an opportunity to make their own representation of what the beach means to them.
