Christmas In The Kool Kidz Kitchen

It’s no secret that we love cooking here at Kool Kidz, and is there no better season for making something delicious than Christmas?! We wanted to give you a gift that keeps on giving, a super fun, kid-friendly Christmas recipe that the kids can help with that is totally customisable to your little chef!

In the spirit of being a little bit cheeky and a little bit nice,  we are making some seriously cute Christmas biscuits and the most adorable Santa strawberries! The best part about both these recipes is that you can use store-bought items in whatever nutritional requirements you might need (gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free) and customise all the toppings to suit.

First up, let’s get cheeky with some festive biccies!

Cookie Wreaths

Ingredients:

  • Round biscuits
  • Melted chocolate
  • M&Ms
  • Sour straps

Method:

  1. Melt the chocolate down and coat the biscuits.
  2. Place M&Ms on before the chocolate sets.
  3. Twist the green or red part of a sour strap into a bow and place it at the top for a festive touch!

Tim-Tam Reindeer

Ingredients:

  • Rectangle biscuits (Tim-Tams are perfect)
  • Googly eye candy or mini marshmallow cut in half
  • Red M&Ms
  • Star-shaped pretzels

Method:

  1. Dip the end of a knife or spoon into a cup of warm water, and use this to gently press into the Tam-tam to melt the chocolate for the eyes & nose of the reindeer to stick.
  2. Repeat this process for the pretzel ears.
  3. Place in the fridge to set.

Try not to eat too quickly!

Next up we have Santa Strawberries!

Santa Strawberries

Ingredients:

  • Medium to large strawberries, with the end chopped off the make a flat base.
  • 100g Philadelphia cream cheese
  • 4-6 teaspoons of icing sugar
  • Dark choc chips or sultanas

Method

  1. Cut the top third off each berry and reserve. Stand berry bases on a serving platter.
  2. Mix cream cheese and icing sugar until smooth and creamy.
  3. Pipe or spoon 1 teaspoon cream onto flat berry tops. Place reserved berry tops on top. Use the smallest piping nozzle to pipe the mixture onto the tip of each strawberry ‘hat’ (pompom) and onto ‘chest’ (button).
  4. Use tweezers to place 2 chocolate/sultana pieces onto each cream ‘face’ (eyes). Refrigerate until ready to serve.
