To ensure we have a clean and beautiful earth to live in it’s important to begin teaching children at a young age the importance of recycling.
Children observe information well, especially if they learn about it starting at a young age. They should be aware of the importance of recycling, and therefore at Kool Kidz we strongly believe in implementing recycling practices and lesson plan activities that use recycled materials.
At Kool Kidz one of the recycling practices we have is recycle bins in the room. The educators teach the children which materials can be recycled and role model how to use it on a daily basis. By teaching children at a young age to look after the environment, by doing simple things like putting their rubbish in the bin, sorting the rubbish into recyclable and non-recyclable, children learn the importance of keeping the earth clean and picking up after themselves.
The following photos are of an activity we did with the children using recycled materials. The educators recycled bottle caps during the week and placed them in a bag and informed the children that it is being collected and recycled for an activity later that week. With the bottle caps, we cut out coloured pieces of paper and glued them in to the caps so we can do a memory game activity. The caps we placed face down and the children had to turn one over and start trying to find the matching colour.
