Snugglepots

Welcome to Kool Kidz on Wellington's Snugglepots room. We pride ourselves in having a flexible child care program that is able to meet the wide variety of individual needs children of this youngest age group have. We follow your child’s own individual routine as we know one routine is not suitable for everyone. At Kool Kidz on Wellington no matter what the need; 3 sleeps per day, held a certain way to feed or just lots of cuddles we aim to meet those needs. You can expect a written communication book detailing everything you need to know. Our educators do not see what your baby cannot do yet, instead they look at what they can do and extend their developmental progress through many varied activities such as art and craft, music, messy play, dancing and language rich environments.

Areas of Development

  • Large body movements: your baby will be developing their ability to coordinate and control the large muscle groups such as legs, arms and the head
  • Small body movements: your baby will be developing their ability to coordinate and control the small muscle groups such and fingers, toes and eyes
  • Hearing: your child will develop ability to listen to and interpret sounds and then repeat first simple words and then longer sentences that they hear
  • Social behaviour and understanding: your child will begin to learn and interact with others, including skills for playing and communicating with other children and adults

    Honeybees

Kool Kidz on Wellington Honeybees room offers a wonderful child care program designed for older babies around 1-2 years old and are up walking about. The physical environment design allows for each child’s ever fast changing needs to be met such as transitioning from a cot to a bed or a highchair to a seat and table. You will see lots of movement activities, the start of social skill development, independence emerging as the children are encouraged to try things themselves and of course lots of books and songs. Our Rowville child care educators will provide lots of support and advice for families with the many challenges arising as this age of child tests the boundaries to assist them to learn what is appropriate and what isn’t.

    Jitterbugs

The Kool Kidz on Wellington, Rowville Jitterbugs room provides a child care program with many and varied experiences for this very busy and curious aged child to explore and learn from. Our large outdoor play yards provide many opportunities for ball sports, climbing, running and of course dancing and singing. As well as catering for the very active toddler we balance our child care program with many opportunities for the development of imagination through role play with home corners and dress ups. You will also see many art and craft experiences and opportunities for children to start to learn to self-regulate their emotions through identifying how to appropriately express their feelings to others. Social skill development is a large part of a toddlers year and our educators will support the children to learn positive social skills.

    Areas of Development

  • Feelings: at this age, your child will be going through an important period of emotional development and experience more complex emotions such as shame and guilt
  • Talking: your toddler will begin learning using lots of words and become easier to understand
  • Thinking: you child will begin to understand concepts such as time and opposites, and match shapes and colours
  • Playing and learning: your child will begin developing social skills such as taking turns and helping with jobs, as well as playing with others
  • Everyday skills: your toddler will start becoming more independent and attempt to dress themselves, wash their hands, and may even by ready to start toilet training
  • Moving: your toddler will start running, using stairs and develop skills such as throwing, kicking and catching a ball

    Caterpillars

Our Caterpillars room operates with the same objectives as a 3 year old Kindergarten program. It is here the children can fine tune their social skills such as taking a turn and listening to others. The children learn how to take responsibility for their own belongings and being respectful of equipment. You will see the introduction of small short group times where the children start to develop their confidence in talking in front of others and they enjoy books, games and songs together with others. During the last term families can access support both from internal educators and external professionals as we tap into the local supports that exist to benefit families in making choices about their child’s next step into the 4 year old Kindergarten program and beyond into school.

    Areas of Development

  • Feelings: your child will improve at recognise and showing their emotions, and start forming real friendships and develop more social skills.
  • Playing and learning: your child may start becoming more interested in playing with others and understanding the concept of ownership and sharing. They will also be curious about their own and other people's bodies.
  • Talking : your child will develop more language skills and show more interest in communicating and having conversations.
  • Thinking : your child will begin to ask more questions, identify numbers and letters and understand basic concepts of size and quantity.
  • Everyday skills: your child will start becoming more independent in tasks such as going to the toilet, cleaning themselves and so on.
  • Moving: your child will become increasingly active, and improved fine motor control as they draw, write and cut with scissors.
  • Butterflies Kindergarten and Long Day Care

Our Butterflies room usually offers a 4-5 year old long day care option for families whose children are attending a funded 4 year old Kindergarten program in a sessional location. This allows families to access full days of care and education for their children on days they may work a full day. Our Rowville 4 year old child care program, activities and experiences the children will be offered will look very similar to that of a 4 year old Kindergarten program. The only difference is that the child care program will usually be led by a Qualified Educator and not a Kindergarten Teacher. The children will explore their cognitive development, learn about their community, fine tune their social and emotional skills and be offered many literacy and numeracy learning opportunities.

    Areas of Development

  • Feelings: Your child may be express themselves through constant chatter and gestures as they practice their communication skills.
  • Talking: Your child’s language ‘explodes’ this year, and they will start to tell you how they feel, talk about their ideas and say words that rhyme. They will also start asking lots of questions.
  • Daily life and behaviour: Most self-help tasks have now been mastered such as washing and dressing. Your child will start hiding the truth and lying, which is a normal part of their development.
  • Moving: Your child might also develop some new gross motor skills – for example, skipping, jumping backwards. Their fine motor skills will also improve as they start writing and using child-safe scissors.

    Kool Kidz Kindergarten

Our funded and 4 year old Rowville Kindergarten program is led by a recognised Kindergarten teacher and is based on the same teaching pedagogy and principles as any kindergarten program.. Our program times are flexible and developed to suit the working family in the most affordable way. All children who are enrolled as funded 4 year old Kindergarten children will benefit from a year of individual observation and intentional learning plans that you are a part of through regular Parent/Teacher meetings. The class sizes of our Rowville kindergarten are smaller than the average which allows each and every child to receive the attention they deserve. The Teacher will plan many specific learning activities including incursions ranging from the local library, local emergency service’s to chicken hatching programs. We offer a comprehensive transition program from Kindergarten to Prep including a written Transition statement which captures where your child’s learning and development is so their Prep Teacher has a good knowledge of your child before they even start school. We encourage lots of parent involvement such as sharing skills you may have with the whole group. For those who are unable to attend during the day there is no requirement or pressure to do Kinder Duty.
