Mother’s Day 2017 at Kool Kidz Tarneit

On the 10th, 11th, and 12th of May Kool Kidz Tarneit held their annual Mother’s Day afternoon tea.  The families enjoyed a yummy selection of fairy bread, anti-pesto platters, cakes and cheese platters for afternoon tea while enjoying activities with their children.  Each room did something special with their Mums while enjoying some delicious treats the children had made.

Honeybees completed sand pastings with the Mothers and had a photo booth, which the families loved.

Our Snugglepots room made chocolate chip cookies for their Mother’s and had experienced such as necklace making and sensory playdough.

Our Beetlebugs room had a button art and craft activity and playdough hearts with glitter which the children took home. They also had a photo booth, taking many photos of the children with their Mother’s.

Our Jitterbug room made lovely bath salts, Key rings and completed questionnaire for each of their children. The responses were so heartfelt and funny, the Mothers loved them. While at the service the children and Mothers made cards and enjoyed the playdough which had lavender through it, giving it a wonderful smell and different texture.

The Butterflies room made bath bombs with their children, on the day the children painted their mother’s nails, ate yummy chocolate balls and took some great photos using their photo booth.

The Caterpillars room made bookmarks and card’s for their mother and on the day enjoyed making family pastings, natural playdough and painting their mother’s nails with nail polish.

The Kinder room had a lovely display of the children with their mothers. The children were asked why they love their Mum and what makes their Mum special. The children’s answers were very touching, with the children declaring that they loved their Mum because she was simply their Mum. The children also gave their Mum’s hand massages, painted their nails and made Mummy puppets with their Mums.

Kool Kidz Tarneit would like to thank our mothers, step mothers, aunties, grandmothers and other influential females that were able to join us for the afternoon.

Kool Kidz Tarneit visits the Wyndham Play Expo

Kool Kidz Tarneit visits the Wyndham Play Expo

On Wednesday the 24th of May our Caterpillars room leader Bec and our Butterflies assistant Mell attended the Wyndham Play Expo.

The Play Expo is free and is designed to give parents with children aged 5 and under ideas for hands on play experiences to use at home and encourage interactions between parents and children. With almost 10 per cent of Wyndham’s population aged 5 or under, this event is ideal for all the parents looking to engage and play more with their children. Play is important for children’s brain development and developing the different developmental areas. All different representatives from the early childhood industry set up simple experiences that families can replicate at home it gives them a better understanding of play based learning.

This is 6th time that Kool Kidz Tarneit have attended the Wyndham Play Expo and have really enjoyed using this experience as a way to provide simple play based learning experiences for families to provide for their children at home to enhance their learning. This time the Wyndham Play expo was held at the salt water community centre. This time we provided a simple numeracy and fine motor experience, where they look at the number and peg that amount of pegs onto the paper plate. For the younger children we also had some bright coloured sensory bottles for them to explore and respond to what’s inside. We did a construction and fine motor based experience using paddle pop sticks and pegs to challenge the children’s creativity.

The next play expo is yet to be confirmed but it is going to be around term 3.
