In the Snugglepots Room so far we have been concentrating on building our relationships with the children. Through the orientation process we were able to begin getting to know one another and since then all of the children have settled into the routine and the room really well. We will continue this process with the children who have just begun care with us.
We have also initiated outdoor sleep in the Snugglepots room. We collated a variety of information from a wide selection of sources about the benefits of outdoor sleeping, and about how others have introduced it. On Friday the 10th of February, Harrigan, Amelia and Elijah were the first children introduced to this experience. After eating lunch, all of the children had gone outside for a play before heading to bed. After the other children had moved inside, Elijah, Harrigan and Amelia were directed to their beds outside. They were able to help organise the space by clearing the toys away, laying down blankets and then helping to put their sheets on. The children went down to sleep as they would usually, they woke up slowly and slept longer than their peers inside. We will be continuing to run the outdoor sleeping experience throughout the year as we have had a lot of positive feedback from parents about their children engaging in these experiences.
Over the coming months, we will also be focusing on extending on the children’s interests through the activities provided in the room and outside. The children have shown a particular interest in the dinosaurs, transport, technology and outdoor play. As such we will be introducing and continuing experiences focused around these interests as well as many others.
Thank you for all of the support so far with the changes we have introduced, and we look forward to continuing to work with you all in order to provide the best possible care for your children.
