Kinder News November 2016
As the year begins to draw closer to its end, we have been celebrating the momentous journey all of our friends have taken since the beginning of the year and reflecting on all the many lessons we have learnt as we prepare ourselves for a new chapter at primary school.
On Tuesday, 8 November, some of us attended an orientation excursion to the nearby Grange Primary School where we had the opportunity to meet and buddy up with the children of Prep Pink for some ‘big school’ activities and a tour of the school. We had a great time, as many of our friends have at their respective school for next year.
As exciting a time as this can be for all children and families, it is also a time of great change for our young friends as they adjust to the prospect of new settings and saying goodbye to familiar faces and close friends. During this time, you might find that your child becomes more emotional than usual, requires more sleep than they have previously, or experiences some change in disposition, as they try to process all the impending newness around them. You can assist them with this by allowing them plenty of time to talk or ask questions, attending their orientation session regularly, driving or walking past their new school regularly so they can familiarise themselves with the setting. Engaging them in conversations about what to expect – who their teachers might be, friends that might attend with them, etc. may also help them to feel more comfortable adjusting to the changes that lie ahead for them.
On Thursday, 1 December we will be holding our kindergarten graduation at Hotel 520 in Tarneit. We look forward to seeing you there for an evening of joyous celebration. If you have not already, please remember to bring in ASAP a plain, white t-shirt for your child to decorate and a pair of reindeer antlers or a Santa hat to wear on the night.
Wishing you all the very best, all ways,
Renee, Janine, Mel and Corrina.
