Here at Kool Kidz Ravenhall, we have some really talented architects and engineers. It became evident one afternoon when the Kinder children visited their room for some structured play.
The children were engaged in lego/ construction play when the common theme became houses. Each child from their own designs, created their own house and they all were super excited to show their creations to Sheemal. Sheemal saw this as a great opportunity for the children to build on their verbal, language, social and wellbeing skills; instead of just sharing their house with Sheemal, she encouraged the children to share their building within the group.
Sheemal observed the children’s confidence excel as each child made new discoveries and celebrated the achievements of themselves and others.
It was also quite interesting to hear and see how the children transferred and adapted what they have seen before and used that knowledge in their construction.
From a simple house building activity, so much learning and skill building took place.
