Kool Kidz Ravenhall was so excited to learn that one of their parents from Honeybees is a paramedic. Of course, we had to invite her in and ask her to talk to our children about her role in the community and what to do in case of an emergency. Linda also offered to bring an ambulance down for the children to explore. Yes Please!
The day finally came.
Upon her entering the room, the children were all drawn to her as she sat down with a very special bag. She explained to the children about her role, she explained that she goes to people’s homes and help them if they’re sick or hurt. This automatically opened conversations between the children and their experiences. One child communicated that they called an ambulance because her brother ate nuts. The children were very much engaged and involved, what a great way to introduce community services and our emergency number of ‘000’ to the children.
Both rooms were taken out to explore the Ambulance vehicle, some loved sitting inside and listening to what things were used for, others took the driver’s seat and some children were super excited over the flashing blue and red lights.
It was a wonderful learning and life experience, this has opened so many doors for new learning; the Butterflies Room have already created a mind map with the children, to gain insight about what the children remember and what they can relate to.
