I can not begin to describe the moment, when I received a Weekly Reflection to edit from our Honeybees, and I saw the photos of the children sitting at the table… feeding themselves… and some drinking from a cup… Oh my goodness!
The growth from the beginning to now is evident in everyday routines, and this example is one of them. To some, this may seem as a very minute moment but to me, not word of a lie, I did a happy dance. The educators in the Honeybees have instilled an environment that is nurturing and supporting, they have offered the children their love and trust and this is how I believe children grow, strengthen and develop their sense of belonging, being and becoming.
The children in the Honeybees sit confidently at the meals table, some attempting to eat with their spoons and others find it much quicker to just hold the spoon and eat with their hands 😊. The Educators have seen this transition as a brilliant opportunity to begin embedding practices that will prepare them for the next rooms in the future. So, with the consent of parents, some of our older children, will be offered a bed to sleep on rather than a cot. Again, I believe it’s a nice way to instil trust in the children to do things when they are ready.
A big thank you to all our Educators in the Honeybees Room, Megan and Kavitha, who are doing an astounding job.
