Children have displayed an ongoing interest in role plays that involved literacy and numeracy. To further support children and extend on this interest a shop has been created for children to explore further with their numbers and letters. It has been an interesting and exciting experience for everyone. Children display a connection with the wider community by adapting and transferring what they have learnt from one context to another. From this experience children engage with a wide range of texts and gain meaning from these texts by confidently writing their shopping lists before going shopping. Children also develop an understanding of how symbols and pattern systems work.
