Learning CPR in our First Aid Class

Learning CPR in our First Aid Class

We believe that it is important for more people to learn first aid and since the children have been giving pretend CPR in their play, we thought it was a fantastic time to teach first aid.

Firstly we tested our ability to spot for dangers and then moved on to looking for a response. We also learnt how to send for help using a smartphone. Everyone’s very good at memorising the emergency number of 000. Next came checking that the person’s airway is clear and to listen and see whether or not the person is breathing.

After that, we practised giving CPR on teddy bears. Some of us can count to 30 and others used the song ‘Mary had a little lamb’ to guide them. We gave two breaths from our cheeks and repeated this step until we were too tired to continue. Everyone enjoyed learning how to save lives and we can’t wait to learn more first aid.
