Kool Kidz Docklands Celebrates Holi Festival of Colours

On Friday the 2nd of March, we celebrated Holi, the festival of colours. Shweta taught us that Holi is celebrated every year because many years ago, God defeated a monster on this day and after that people were so happy they celebrated using colours. The night before the celebration people would gather around a bonfire and sing and dance. On the day, the would smear each other with others and drench each other with water. We adapted this celebration by creating an art work of what it would look like if we smeared each other with colour and drenched each other with water. As a group we created a water colour spray painting and once this was dry, we used bubble wrap to paint on top of the watercolour. The children had so much using different painting techniques. We also created a “bonfire” in the classroom and danced around it to upbeat Indian songs as suggested by Shweta. Overall we had a great day celebrating Holi and can’t wait to celebrate again next year
