Kool Kidz Docklands Beetlebugs Give a Helping Hand
There is nothing the children in the Beetlebugs room enjoy more than helping! Each day two children assist their educator to help set up for lunch. We count how many bowls we need according to the amount of children who are attending our room for the day. The two Beetlebug friends work together to place a bowl at each chair, they then put a spoon in every bowl and a bib at each place. Before lunch and after group time we sing our colour song;
‘Blue, blue, blue, we like the colour blue.
‘Blue, blue, blue, who is wearing blue?’
The children say who is wearing each colour and they go and wash and dry their hands, collect their own drink bottle and line up at the door. We use our ‘walking feet’ to the dining room or our picnic table outside. The Beetlebugs children sit at their table and put their own bibs or educators will assist. During lunch times children serve themselves their lunch with a bowl in the middle of the table. During our meal times we discuss or delicious healthy foods and what vegetables we can see. After lunch children are encouraged to wipe their own hands and faces, which encourages children to be independent and develop their self-help skills.
